Hip Joint Pain

Hip joint pain is a common condition that affects mobility and daily activities such as walking, sitting, and climbing stairs. The hip is a weight-bearing ball-and-socket joint, and pain can arise due to injury, arthritis, overuse, or degenerative changes.


Common Causes of Hip Joint Pain

  • Osteoarthritis – Wear and tear of hip joint cartilage

  • Rheumatoid Arthritis – Inflammatory joint disease

  • Hip bursitis – Inflammation of fluid-filled sacs around the joint

  • Muscle or tendon strain

  • Hip fracture (especially in elderly people)

  • Avascular necrosis – Reduced blood supply to the hip bone

  • Sciatica – Nerve pain radiating from lower back to hip

Symptoms of Hip Joint Pain

  • Pain in the hip, groin, thigh, or buttock

  • Stiffness or reduced hip movement

  • Pain while walking, standing, or climbing stairs

  • Difficulty sitting cross-legged or getting up from a chair

  • Limping while walking

  • Clicking or locking sensation in the hip
