Abdominal Pain

Abdominal pain is super common, and the meaning really depends on where, how, and what else is going on. Here’s a clear way to think about it

Common causes (by type)

  • Indigestion / acidity / gas – burning or bloating, often after eating

  • Gastritis or ulcers – upper abdomen, burning or gnawing pain

  • Constipation – crampy pain, bloating, relief after bowel movement

  • Food poisoning / infection – pain + diarrhea, vomiting, fever

  • Appendicitis – pain starting near the belly button → moves to lower right

  • Gallstones – right upper abdomen, worse after fatty meals

  • Kidney stones – severe pain radiating to back/groin
